Light the World: ONE BY ONE

#LightTheWorld

When Jesus Christ was born, angels proclaimed, “On earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14). This December, the promise remains the same. As we love and serve each day the way Jesus did, we can end 2020 on a hopeful note.

What Is Light the World?

#LightTheWorld is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service. It’s a worldwide movement to touch hearts and change lives by doing the things Jesus did: feeding the hungry, comforting the lonely, visiting the sick and afflicted, and showing kindness to everyone. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). #LightTheWorld is the perfect way to let our light—and His light—shine brightly.

Your are the Light

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

Light the World Calendar 2020

The Daily Service Prompt Calendar

Starting December 1st, and for the 25 days leading up to Christmas, the Daily Service Calendar features simple and personal ways that we can reach out and serve one another. For 2020 the calendar has been modified so that service suggestions are engaging as well as safe. A downloadable calendar is available on LightTheWorld.org, where people can also opt-in to a daily email reminder. In the U.S. and Canada, they can also opt-in to daily texts that remind them of each day’s inspiring service idea.

By encouraging people every day to think of someone they can help, they will minister as the Savior did, one by one.

The Christ Child Video

The beautiful retelling of the nativity story “The Christ Child” is a centerpiece of Light the World. We encourage you to invite everyone of all faiths to share this beautiful story together with us to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Serve All Year Long

Each year during the Christmas season, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints makes a monumental effort to spread the message and mission of #LightTheWorld. However, you can do it all year by thinking about who you can serve each and every day.
