As we inaugurate the new Canada website, we express appreciation to all who have contributed to its success. The messages and content found on this site contribute to the great work the Father and the Son revealed through the Prophet Joseph Smith who declared:
“No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540).
This great cause is assisted by inspired technology; specifically, the Internet which allows the inauguration of the Canada website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Through this new website, members and neighbors in Canada can become aware of Church news, messages, events, and prophetic direction to the Church and the world. To maintain the dignity of the Church, the existing Internet Committee at Church Headquarters will give overall direction to the members of the Presidency of the Seventy who supervise the three Canada areas. Area Seventies, Elders Paul D. M. Christensen, W.T. David Murray, and Richard K. Melchin, assist them under the direction of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Under the direction of the Area Seventies, local committee members accepted assignments to prepare material as well as monitor suggested content to be posted on the website. Posters were placed on bulletin boards in meetinghouses throughout Canada inviting viewers to participate and assist with the website (see canada@ldschurch.org).
We pray that our united efforts will contribute to the fulfillment of King Benjamin's prophecy: “And moreover, I say unto you, that the time shall come when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread throughout every nation, kindred, tongue, and people” (Mosiah 3:20). Of Him and God, the Father, and Their holy work we add our solemn witness and testimony.
